1/12/2023 0 Comments Shrimp tails cinnamon toast crunch![]() It came as a surprise to some to learn that Karp is married to Danielle Fishel, an actress well-known for her role as Topanga Lawrence on the ‘90s sitcom “Boy Meets World.” Even weirder, almost exactly one year ago, Fishel tweeted out a sponsored ad for CoffeeMate’s Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavored creamer. This craze took over social media for the day, occupying the #1 trending spot on Twitter as more people became invested in both the situation, as well as the man behind it. And even later, he shared a picture of a second but unopened bag of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in his house which seemed to contain dental floss. He continued to document and publicly share his interactions with General Mills, the parent company of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.Īs the situation began to spiral into massive popularity, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Twitter account eventually responded, arguing that what was depicted was just “an accumulation of the cinnamon sugar” and ensuring there was “no possibility of cross contamination with shrimp.” But by that point, Twitter had escalated into a frenzy, spurred on by a salvo of memes created by random Twitter users and comedians alike, including Karp himself.Īs if things couldn’t get weirder, later in the day (yes, that same day) Karp shared a close-up picture of a few pieces of the cereal which had questionable black fragments baked into them. Karp is a producer, writer, actor, and podcaster who enjoyed a moderate amount of fame until this tweet went viral, sending him and his potentially problematic past into the public eye. Again, there is no current proof that this is a reality, and this is only an assumption based on the process from General Mills factory. Are you telling me a shrimp fried this…Cinnamon Toast Crunch? On March 22, Jensen Karp tweeted this picture with the caption “why are there shrimp tails in my cereal? (This is not a bit),” and within hours, whe Twitter-verse exploded. ![]() ![]() If shrimp tails were to be coated in sugar with the rest of the squares, then fallen into a bag, it could have been during that "tumbling process" between baking and coating. The process looks seamless, and while there isn't any proof that shrimp tails actually ended up in a bag of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, there are large machines in this factory being used. Next, the squares "take a little journey" to a machine where they go through a tumbling process so they can be evenly coated in "nutrients, cinnamon, and sugar." The cereal then goes to a machine where it is scaled into proper portions, sealed into bags, pressed into boxes, and sent out for distribution. The sheet is then cut into those tiny squares and the squares go through a toaster. ![]() A special dough is made for the cereal, which is then pressed into a large sheet. So, what's the process? According to the segment, it all starts out with a dough. From the shaping of the dough to sealing the bags in those familiar colorful boxes, the segment was able to show users exactly how every crunchy square is made. The team in particular gave a small glimpse at the part of the factory that makes Cinnamon Toast Crunch. ![]() After a bit of digging, we found a 2018 news segment by KRQE News 13, which aired a behind-the-scenes look at the General Mills factory in Albuquerque, New Mexico. ![]()
